and St George by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on March 29,
2006. Left to right: Wife Quinta, David Woodward, son Mark and

This honor was established by King George IV in 1818 for "extraordinary
and important service" by UK citizens working overseas.
It recognizes Woodward's achievements as BP's Associate President
in Azerbaijan for his seven years in leading BP's activities,
including the enormous achievement of the ACG (Azeri, Chirag,
Gunashli) oil field and the BTC (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan) Pipeline,
which will transport crude oil 1,760 km (1,094 miles) from the
Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea across three countries.
The BTC Pipeline is the second longest pipeline in the world.

Europe). Photo: BP
