Art Prices Skyrocket: Women at Work and at Home



"Harvesting Corn," 1950s, by an unknown artist. Here the women's work of gathering corn is supervised by a man. Though the harvesting seems to be primarily done by hand, a tractor is shown on the right side, and in the background a plane is ready to take the harvest to distant parts of the Soviet Union, which at that time was the largest country in the world and spanned 11 time zones.
