Arif Hashmi has replaced Jiri Kobos as the new General Manager
of Hyatt Hotels Baku. Hashmi first joined Hyatt in Los Angeles
after graduating from Michigan State University. In 1995, he
was transferred to Baku for the opening of Hyatt Regency Baku
as Director of Finance. Hashmi was transferred to Oman in 1998
and returned to Baku as Manager of Park Hyatt. He was promoted
to General Manager this past July. Hyatt International operates
a complex in Baku that includes two hotels, the Park Hyatt and
Hyatt Regency, 47 apartments, 8 villas, 14,000 square meters
of office space, the Hyatt meeting and conference center, a three-story
